EMPLOYERS® Cuts Workers’ Compensation Costs For Qualified California Physicians and Surgeons

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — Sept. 6, 2006 — Because workplace accidents and injuries can occur even when there is a “doctor in the house,” Employers Insurance Group (EMPLOYERS®) is providing California physicians and surgeons improved special group pricing on workers’ compensation insurance. Insurance and services are offered through Employers Compensation Insurance Company, one of the companies of EMPLOYERS.

Under California law, any business with employees is required to carry workers’ compensation insurance. Since coverage is a significant expense, it is important for doctors to find workers’ compensation insurance providing quality services at a competitive price.

“EMPLOYERS has provided exceptional service to California physicians and surgeons for many years,” said Hale Johnston, Pacific Region President for EMPLOYERS. “Our expert approach to underwriting, loss prevention, and claims allows us to pass cost savings on to qualified doctors in the form of a discount to EMPLOYERS’ already competitive rates.”

EMPLOYERS is making workers’ compensation insurance and services more affordable for qualified California physicians and surgeons. New pricing for qualified accounts at the special group rate begins with October business. The new, competitive base rates are enhanced through increased credits for both new and renewing participants who qualify.

Broadened underwriting guidelines offer coverage in California for up to 43 medical specialties, including expanded operations such as dialysis (on-premises exposures), radiology, x-ray clinics and urgent care centers. Flexible payment plans are also available for appropriately-sized operations. EMPLOYERS’ minimum premium has been lowered to $750 to accommodate doctors with low payroll.

Physicians and surgeons should contact their brokers or an independent insurance agent. EMPLOYERS will determine eligibility and provide fast, competitive quotes on qualified submissions. Insurance agents can call EMPLOYERS customer service center at (800) 232-3085 for more information on workers’ compensation insurance savings opportunities.
